Preschool Curriculum

Make it Fun!

The preschool years are the fun years!

The preschool curriculum you choose should be fun too!

Children that are at the preschool age are like sponges. They absolutely LOVE to learn and they are constantly learning from everything they come in contact with:

preschool curriculum
  • You
  • Brothers & sisters
  • Their environment in the home
  • Their environment outside
  • Their friends
  • Their realtives
  • Doing chores
  • What they watch on TV
  • What you read to them

As you can see, the opportunities for learning are endless for your preschooler.

The most important thing you can do to help your preschooler learn is to provide a healthy, loving, and safe environment for her.

ENJOY your preschooler - Yes, they have a lot of energy and they require a lot of energy, but they are only this age once.

Keep this in mind as you look for good homeschool materials for your little guys. Also keep in mind that you can use Home Schooling Haven's free preschool curriculum ideas and our preschool math activities to supplement the curriculum suggestions on this page. All of our activities are free for you to use.

Preschool Curriculum for Bible

Spend time daily reading Bible stories to your children. Use colorful materials and include a lot of singing and crafts.

I did this by using:

Preschool Curriculum for Phonics

The program I used with my children was Sing, Spell, Read & Write. This is a complete language arts program that teaches beginning reading using phonics, spelling, and writing. The great thing is they learn while they're having fun singing and playing games.

What more could you ask for? :)

Preschool Curriculum for Math

I personally feel that preschoolers learn by doing. This means LOTS and LOTS of hands-on activity. I think this is especially true in math. Your preschool child needs to be able to make the connection between "three toys" and the written number "three." By letting your child do hands-on math, they are making connections on so many different levels.

The best hands-on math curriculum is Math-U-See. This curriculum uses all hands-on activities to teach the basic concepts your child needs to learn.

Preschool Curriculum for Science

First I recommend Adventure Walks! Read more about "Adventure Walks" in the Getting Your Kids to Love Homeschool Science.

These are fun-filled walks you take with your children, letting them learn while they are exploring.

Lot's of fun memory making times.

Next, read, read, read to your preschooler. Great science books to read are any books by DK Publishing and Eyewitness Readers. Great pictures and simple text that keeps your preschooler interested.

For a complete, all-in-one kit, I highly recommend Thames & Kosmos Little Labs. These are kits that teach -

  • nature
  • physics
  • chemistry
  • air
  • water
It's a complete curriculum and everything you could possibly need is included.

The above - Bible - Phonics - Math and Science are the basics that you need to be teaching your preschooler. If you go to the Home School Curriculum page, you will see other subjects listed that give more details for preschool curriculum.

Remember - keep it FUN!.

Don't make learning a chore!

Your child will be naturally learning - you don't have to "force-feed" her.

Let her grow and learn naturally with fun encouragement.

Have Fun!!!
