The Best Kids Reading Books
Award Winning Books Your Children Will Love!
There are MANY great kids reading books but when you need one, you can't ever seem to find them. That's why I created this page for you. I have lists of kids reading books that you can bookmark and come back to whenever you need a new book for a read aloud or for your kids to read. There are so many books, so I have divided them up into different lists to make it easier for you. Here they are - Caldecott Medal and Honor Winners - 1938 to Present The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Newberry Medal & Honor Books - 1938 to Present The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year. Kids Reading Book Lists
You can find good books with the Caldecot and Newberry lists, but I also have a couple of homeschool sources that I love. Both Sonlight and Christian Book Distributors have tons of books that are great kids reading books. Sometimes when I'm browsing for new and interesting books for my kids to read, I go to one of these two sources and search by grade level. You can do the same thing, or look through the lists that I've made for you by grade level. Each grade level includes books that your children can read at that reading level or books that are good "read alouds" for you to read to your children. Don't stick just to your child's grade level though. If you're looking for a good read aloud, look at higher grade levels. Just because your child can't read at that level doesn't mean you shouldn't read to them from a higher level. Reading books to your children from higher grade levels increases their vocabulary and introduces them to more complex sentence structure, thinking and reasoning skills.
