You have to be wary of home school curriculum reviews when you are looking for the right books for your children. Home schooling is "big business" these days.

Many sites "review" everything under the sun and give it a glowing recommendation just so you will buy it!

Don't fall for this.

You'll end up wasting a lot of money you could be using in other areas of your homeschool - like supplies, equipment for science experiments, art supplies etc.

Follow these tips:

• Get dependable home school curriculum reviews - Here at Home Schooling Haven, I don't review every curriculum that's on the market - I only review the ones that I have personally used during my 16 years as a homeschool mom. Check our Home School Curriculum section. Curriculum is broken down subject by subject and I give my honest opinion about the different books available.
• Ask homeschool moms that you know - This can be one of your best bets. Homeschool moms love books and love to talk about what works for them and their children.

  The next time you're on a field trip - just ask! You'll get lot's of helpful advice. Just remember what makes a good curriculum choice for another person's child won't necessarily make it the perfect one for your chidren.

• Ask your children's homeschool friends - Yes...even this can be helpful. You need to educate your children, but you also want them to like to learn. Sometimes other kids can give you good hints about which curriculum they like.

  Be sure and ask them "why" they like it. If they tell you, "because it's super easy" or "I don't have to do much work" well...maybe you shouldn't go with that one! Check with their mom to see what her opinion is.

I make it a practice to never review or recommend a curriculum unless I have personally used it. Obviously, this could really limit the reviews.
