Free Educational Games - What Time is it Mr. Fox?

by Katie
(Tucson, AZ)

This free educational game is a really fun physical activity for younger kids that also introduces number and time concepts.

In this game, the "fox" stands at one end of the room or yard and the rest of the players stand at the other end.

All the players (except the fox) shout out, "What time is it Mr. Fox?" The fox responds by saying, "It's ___ o'clock." The fox can use any time number from one to twelve. The players then take that number of steps toward the fox, while counting out loud.

Example: "What time is it Mr. Fox?"

"It's 4 o'clock."

The players keep getting closer to the fox, continuing to ask what time it is. When the fox shouts "Midnight!", all the players turn around and run back toward the side where they started and the fox tries to tag somebody. The person that the fox tags is the new fox for the next round.
